Flames and Forms: Arts Inspired by Fire
Exhibition of sculptor István Drabik and the ceramist Simon Holpert
Sculptures, drawings, and photographs
István Drabik, winner of the Mihály Munkácsy Prize, experiments with the masterful harmony of wrought iron and fine wires. His abstract and anthropomorphic forms capture the subtlety of the human soul and abstract thoughts.
Simon Holpert’s ceramics offer an interactive experience. His series “Missing Part” presents tactile sculptures placed on cushions that can be touched and repositioned. The installation titled “Blue Moon Appearance,” enriched by the photographs of Jákob Matolcsi, initiates a reflection on the role and place of the art object.
Drabik and Holpert, neighbours in life and art, harness the power of fire to create their works. The heating of metals and the effects of ceramics are both attributed to the magic of fire. This commonality in their work is not only a material element but also a symbol – one of passion, transformation, and renewal.
